...just the two of us

2009
This is one of my favorite photos of Mychael and I. We woke up one morning and took a day trip around the area, tried new places and strolled for hours. I loved it. I think it is almost time for another one of these! I want to make a point to do day trips / date nights on a more regular basis. We are both growing in our careers and sometimes we lose track of time.

Do you take day trips around your area, just the two of you?

Celia...

Here is your chance to learn a little about me! I found this via Jess, you should head over to her place right after this!

I Am... a lover and a fighter.
I Want... to be married already! =)
I Have... such an amazing Fiance and family!
I Wish... that I knew all the right turns to take.
I Hate... when people are being two-faced.
I Hear... every single sound and swear someone is trying to break into the house when Fiance isn't home.
I Search... for the stars?
I Wonder... if I have made my parents proud.
I Regret.... nothing
I Love... Mychael and the furkids!
I Ache... never? Perhaps when I am le sicky!
I Always... try to be the best person I can be!
I Usually... want to just come and and sit on my toosh, but I head to the gym instead!
I Am Not... your typical girl.
I Dance...when it is just me and Mychael.
I Sing… when I am by myself and when I need to make someone laugh. It's that bad!
I Never... say anything behind your back that I couldn't say to your face.
I Rarely... stay up past midnight.
I Cry... when I am happy, mad, and sad.
I Am Not Always... a people person, sometimes I just want to sit in peace and quiet!
I'm Confused.... as to why people can't just be nice to each other and encourage each other.
I Need... there to be more hours in the day!
I Promise.... to stay true to myself, and document my journey through out life, right here.

Moving on...

Source
Remember when I mentioned changes to you here? Well... changes are happening. I love my job and if I can toot my own horn, I am really good at it. Apparently I am so good at it that companies came after me. I had three possible options. One was work from home, but something about this one told me to back away from it. One was with another company that everyone who works there is happy but I wasn't entirely sure if they could afford me, and the hours were not your typical M-F, 8a-5p which when I left the pharmacy was something I really wanted to keep, it allows for me to get home and have a fresh meal on the table daily and at a decent time. The final option is the one I took.

I put in my two weeks notice to my current employer last Thursday. I felt horrible. My boss wasn't expecting it. I still can't believe I put in my notice, I can't believe I accepted another offer. I can't believe that I am jumping and taking a leap of faith. My mentors told me that if the offer was better, don't pass it up. The opportunity is great, and I would be cutting myself short if I stayed. I needed to think about my family and what is best for us. I did just that. My new job will be a little further than my previous one, but the offer and the perks make up for it. I can't really get myself to be excited because I'm scared to tell you the truth! I guess I can take comfort in the fact that this company pursued me! I also get to go shopping for new work clothes since this company has more of a professional environment. Yippee!

So, on April 9th I will be walking into a new office, with new coworkers, and a new title. Wish me luck and let's pray that my current employer doesn't start making things difficult for me during my remaining time there.

O-Glow is my BFF

O-GLOW Intuitive Cheek Color With Goji Berry-C Complex

About a month ago I was in need of some serious makeup. I don't know why, but I always wait to purchase makeup until I am absolutely out of almost everything! The one thing I am never happy with is my blush. Even when people say "oh this looks great on every skin tone" it is never quite right for mine. I have a habit of tossing my makeup bag under the counter, this means that ever single blush I try ends up broken in pieces at some point or another. So frustrating! I was shopping for makeup and I wasn't happy with anyone's recommendations. I used to be a makeup junkie when I was younger so I decided to take things into my own hands. I searched websites and sorted items by newest, best reviewed, most purchased, you name it. I came across O-Glow. Hmm... sounded interesting. Perhaps this is just the latest gimmick. A product that automatically changes colors to match your skin tone? I read some reviews, mostly great and decided to take the plunge. I absolutely love it! It is perfect, I can watch it change colors as I apply it. It is like watching science work every morning and I get giddy.

I'm wearing O-Glow in this photo with my friend Audra, say hi to Audra y'all!

And since it's Monday and I'm sharing one of my current favorite things I'm linking up with Erin! =) Click the button and see what everyone else is sharing. Maybe even share a favorite of yours this week?

Wedding Planning... uh oh Part II

Wedding Planning... uh oh Part I.

Most of my girls had replied back to my email letting me know that if I needed anything at all they would be happy to help and they were surprised at how well I was taking things. I first received a text from my MOH asking if it was okay that she call me. I told her of course. She was currently speaking with Mychael on the other line. I didn't think anything of the phone call, she is Mychael's best chick friend.

Me and Aiko
My office phone rang and it was her. Her voice sounded a little nervous. "Hey Celia. So after I got your email this morning I figured I should really call you. I have some news." Of course my first thought is. "Oh my god you're pregnant!!" She giggled and said no, and that she felt really bad.... But her husband just received an amazing offer with his job and they could be moving to London within the next couple months. My heart dropped. This also means that she would probably miss our wedding. She felt so bad, but I assured her that I understood and if this is something that is good for them as a family, you can't pass up the opportunity!

Moose and Aiko should both know details of their trips within the next couple weeks. When it was just Moose leaving we thought about moving the wedding date up to August, but now this would mean we would have to move the wedding date up to May. That still wouldn't guarantee anything. Aiko and her husband could already be gone by then. When I got off of work yesterday Mychael was pretty upset, mad, torn, and lost. Who wouldn't be? It is one thing when your best friends live on the other side of the city, or even in a different state. But now, now his two best friends are both leaving to live in other countries within a couple months of each other.

When I walked in the door last night, the package for our Save The Dates was sitting on the table. Break my heart. What do we do? We don't want to rush our wedding. Sure we have had a super long engagement, but we have always been the couple that didn't rush a thing. We don't want anything to feel forced. We want both these individuals in our wedding, but, currently we are thinking that we will just keep our date the same. We don't want to jump the gun on anything, so we are going to wait to hear the details within the next couple weeks.

Who could ever imagine having two people in their lives suddenly uproot and move across the world? I mean, seriously what are the odds? Did you have any road bumps in your wedding planning or are you currently? What would you do in our situation? Does it make us horrible people if we push forward with everything as is?

Wedding Planning... uh oh - Part I

You may have seen my mini freak out on twitter last night. Mychael's best man has been applying for Ph.D programs all over. They met up for drinks and some guy time while I had myself a date night in with myself. Yummy mexican food, painted my nails, watched I Just Don't Know How She Does It, and took a way too long shower. It was quite the evening.

Mychael & Moose
When Mychael came home the first thing he told me was "honey, I have some bad news", so I paused Four Weddings and was open ears. "Moose is going to Saudi Arabia for his Ph.D, he won't be able to be in our wedding." Mychael listed out all the Universities Moose was accepted to, and one of them was Houston's own Rice University. Of course I tell Mychael that Moose can just fly back home for our wedding, or why doesn't he just go to Rice instead? I mean I had serious I'm the bride brain at the moment. Then I realised, this isn't about me. My soon to be husband is going to be losing one of his best friends, his long time friend. I took a moment.

This is Moose's dream. We can't ask him to change his life just for us. That's not fair at all. So, maybe we can change our wedding date. There is a Muslim holiday at the end of October and he can home during that week. Maybe we can move the wedding up, before he leaves... But then, our photographer. What if he doesn't have a slot open for us? There is another photographer I love so let me check her pricing first just in case. Oh my god, our save the dates will be here any day! We have our ceremony site already...

I was upset and Mychael could tell. "Honey, are you okay?" Yes, of course I was... kinda. This is a road bump I couldn't predict. I wasn't mad at Mychael, I wasn't mad at Moose...my mind was racing. I couldn't really sleep. When I finally got comfortable and fell asleep, I woke back up sick! So this morning I sent an email out to my girls just to let them know that there may be a change in plans...

Then, I recieved a phone call...

...to be continued...

I think I won this one...

This weekend I was looking through photos to have developed and came across this one. I literally laughed out loud to myself. I don't know what we were bickering about but someone caught it on camera and I think it is pretty flippin' awesome! This was from our housewarming party. I wonder if it could possibly be over football since I am in my Colts t-shirt and he is in his Patriots t-shirt. I'm thinking I won because, well, just look how fast my hand was shaking, I was serious! What do you think?

Happy happy weekend

Happy Friday!!

This week I learned...
I can fire people, and as much as I have heard people say they would love that power, I am here to say it is not fun at all. Maybe I'm just not a mean person, I just felt awful.
You can get a virus on your computer that is pretty nasty by just looking at food porn. Seriously, I was looking for a recipe for Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcakes!?! Thank goodness Mychael knows anything and everything about computers and my little computer is up and running like new!

It is St. Patrick's Day weekend! Will you do anything special? I hope to sleep in on Saturday! I am exhausted from work and our weeknights. We don't have anything major planned here other than hitting the gym a couple times with our dear friend and eating massive amounts of fried pickles on Sunday topped with a stop in at Sprinkles! I did paint my nails a pretty shade of green to make sure I don't get pinched at any point! it is March Madness so I can guarantee our TV time will be consumed with basketball! Alright by me!

Whatever you do this weekend, have fun!! =)

Let the good times roll

If you have been reading this blog long enough you know I love sports! Aggressive sports specifically. Last night I enjoyed the Houston Aeros game with the gorgeous Stephanie Joplin in David Burke's suite (President of the Houston Aeros). Stephanie and David teamed up to bring us the #AerosGirlsNightOut. They definitely out did themselves. They provided us with delicious food, alcohol and just an overall great time!

Pink Jello Shots made with whipcream vodka!

Me, Shellie, Audra
The Houston Aeros also provided the Houston Blogging Chicks with a #BloggersNightOut, they gave us tickets to bring out family and friends! My friends loved the game and can't wait to come back out again.

If you haven't been to a hockey game I highly recommend it. The crowd is lively, the action on the ice is intense and if you're lucky, you get to see a couple fights break out on the ice!! Take a look at the Aeros schedule here!

Can I take this guy anywhere? ;)

I finally own a...

For Valentine's Day Mychael bought me a James Avery charm bracelet & a Texas charm. I know, I know most people have had one since junior high. I always liked them, but never cared to own one. When Marco passed away my MOH bought me a little kitty JA charm. Perfect reason for me to own one. Mychael did a great job selecting the perfect bracelet for me. It's very dainty.

JA Bracelet and Texas Charm from Mychael, Kitty charm from my friend.

Yesterday would have been Marco's 17th birthday. I don't think I will ever get over his or his Mother's death, but I am working hard everyday to let my guard down and allow myself to bond with my other two kitties. I know that they have many years ahead of them and I will grow a bond with them that is just as strong.

Marco engraved on the charm
Currently JA only has one kitty charm, I am on the look out for another one so that I can have it engraved with "MK". I admit when I first went into the store I felt like the people there were snooty. The last time I was there I met a lady named Rita, she was a breath of fresh air. Rita is an older lady and unbelievably sweet. I learned that she holds a bachelors degree, and two masters degrees! She was a former principal and currently teaches at a local university! Wow! Her outlook on life was just so inspirational. She truly touched my soul. I'm giddy to buy/receive more charms for my bracelet (partially so I can go back and have another conversation with her). I know so many people who own them and can tell me a story for each charm they have. Do you have a JA bracelet? When did you receive yours? What is the most cherished charm that you own? Have you ever met someone who truly touched you when you least expected it?

Nail Files V

The Nail Files

People have asked me about the nail polish club that I posted about here. I received my 2nd package a couple weeks ago and I loved everything I received once again.

Essie - Hard to Get
Essie - Red Nouveau
A pretty glass nail file
M-A-C - Vintage Vamp

I have already used the Red Nouvea and loved it. The color was a little redish-orange. Currently I am wearing the M-A-C nail polish, it didn't go on as smoothly as I would have liked and chipped a bit after just one day.

Have you signed up for the Nail Polish Club?
What is your favorite brand of nail polish that just seems to go on smoothly and last forever?

Just call him Tux

This week we are featuring Angel again! He is such a sweetie. Well, when he wants to be. I'm convinced that tuxedo cats are bipolar.  Confession: We would take Angel out on a leash because once we had to rush him to the ER, he wasn't eating or drinking. They filled him up with fluids. Final diagnosis? He was depressed because he wasn't allowed to go outside. Vet's orders we take him outside. Now that we live in a condo, on a pretty day I will sit outside with him on our balcony and he loves to roll around in the sun, leash free! =)

This photo is a bit of an oldie when Mychael took me in with all four of my cats, we lived in his childhood bedroom, I was proud of my kitties... They tried to play nice as much as possible.

Angel loves to lay around and enjoy a good cat nap, this was when he and I had a movie night together while Mychael was finishing up his last year of college.

One of my favorite things about Angel is he lets me tuck him in with blankets like a child and give him nose kisses. Melts my heart to watch him sleep cuddled.

Tonight Angel came into the kitchen with me to help select my beverage of the night. I hope he turns into my cooking buddy, 'cause I sure do miss my old cooking buddy

A major thank you to Ms. Monologues for this link up. It gives me a place to talk all about my furkids and share them with you all. I couldn't easily go to my kitty place, but I'm not quite ready to go back there yet.
