Amerijuve Microdermabrasion

Last Friday after work I had the pleasure of going to Amerijuve Med Spa in Clear Lake for a Microdermabrasion treatment. I was so excited. Then I got there and I was super nervous. I've never had anything done to my face before other than waxings.
My wait time was minimal and once I got back into the room I was provided with a blanket. So warm and cozy. I enjoyed my session so much, it felt like a little vacuum going over my face. My microderm came complete with an enzyme mask, arm and hand massage and a facial massage. Afterwards they let me see all the dead skin that came off my face. Yuck. I almost asked to take a photo, but figured I'd spare y'all that photo!

My face felt amazing afterwards!!! Do you know how your legs feel after a great shave? Yea, that. Perfectly smooth! I have a tad bit of peeling on my face but nothing major. I have been moisturizing my face and honestly I don't want to put makeup on over it! I can definitely see myself doing this again.
Amerijuve Med Spa also provides other beauty services, I could see myself being interested in Refirme, and Lazer Hair Removal.

Brides, this is something I would definitley recommend doing a couple weeks before your wedding!

I won a free microdermabrasion treatment through twitter. I was not asked to write this post. All opinions are my own.

Let me ask you a question. Have you heard about Kelly from Messy.Dirty.Hair? No? Oh my goodness, have you been living under a rock? Go check out her blog now, then hit the follow button and then stalk her on every social media outlet! Tell her I told you to.

Kelly has challenged all of us with The REAL Messy Challenge and I just so happened to be a real messy dirty girl when I read her post. The photo above, I took after 6 days of no washing my hair. Eep! My hair was definitely piecey! I was only able to pull off 6 days of no washing my hair because it wasn't that hot in Houston and I hadn't been to the gym or on a run. I usually max out at 2-3 days in the winter. Summer is definitely and every other day washing for me!

I did wash my hair that night though, I thought about trying to go another day but I felt like my scalp was going to be an itchy mess if I didn't wash it.

Fun facts about my hair:
  • Naturally curly (we're talkin' spirals!)
  • Chemically straightened
  • Not color treated
  • Curls accomplished with my CHI Turbo Straight Iron
  • Shampoo of choice, Garnier Fructise
  • Hair Spray of choice, Aussie
How long do you think you could go without washing your hair?

Eyeglass Accessories

...or is there such a thing as eyeglass accessories?

my first pair of glasses, ever!

I'm 28 (almost) and now wear glasses for computing and for driving. Eep! Help a girl out because I am clueless. Where do you get cute eyeglass cases? I need help!

Also I had my glasses on for just a bit this morning and my eyes felt all funny. Any advice for this newbie and how to get my eyes used to wearing glasses while I am at the computer? The doctor said I may feel dizzy for a bit at first, I want to minimize this...

Social Media Citation

I was out shopping the other day and I came across a bin of clearance items. I don't know about you but if there is a clearance bin I at least have to take a peek to see if there is anything good. I came across this Knock Knock note pad below.

It was on sale for $2, I just had to have it. I won't ever use it... but it makes for a cute desk accessory! I mean how many times have you wanted to issue a Social Media Citation to someone? I know I have been guilty of a couple of these like... Overposting, and Oversharing haha. Perhaps Long-winded list of interests... ohhhh well. Whatcha gonna do? You should browse the Knock Knock website they have some adorable stuff and some freaking hilarious items!

I died reading the Passive-Aggressive Nifty NotesThe Douchebag Indelicate Doilies, and how about the Hey A$$hole Pad??

For my organizational peeps you should really check out all their organizational items here

Now these are super cute, Why I Really Like You Pad, Love Note Greeting Cards,

and this is a little naughty Why I Must Have Sex With You.

If any of you want to send me some of these I will gladly accept!

NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain

Okay ladies. I love makeup as much as the next girl, but as far as lips go. Just give me some chapstick, carmex or my endless supply of Kustom Kissers and I am good to go.

Shellie and I were talking lips a couple weeks ago, and part of the reason why I just go with chapstick is because I am lazy. I am not going to keep looking at myself in the mirror all day long to make sure my lip color is still on. And I sure as heck am not going to keep reapplying it 10 million times through out the day. Shellie mentioned lip stain, I've tried it before. Like 10 years ago. I hated it. My lips turned into a dry mess and I hate dry lips! She promised me that the lip stains don't dry out your lips...perhaps they changed their formula?

While the mister was out of town for business I decided that I needed to go shopping. I went to Target and came across NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain. It was about $5 ... not bad, if I hate it I won't feel bad tossing it in the trash can. Well, the verdict. I love it! I went with the color Berry Long Time. It's perfect for my skin tone, and makes me giggle every time I see the name.

Thanks @terriblylovely for convincing me to try lip stain again! As you can tell, I'm no #beauty blogger by my fishyish face ;) loving my NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain in Berry Long Time ! Do you like lip stains? What brand do I need to try?
I asked others via Instagram (unSimplyCelia  - follow me!) what brands I needed to try and here's what they had to say!

So blog friends, what do y'all think? Do you have a favorite lip stain? ...or is there one that I definitely need to stay away from?

First Date

Ladies and gentleman. We are one month away from our wedding, to the day! At times I feel like there is so much to do, and other times I am just like "that's it?" I realize I haven't been updating this little blog of mine as often lately, I just haven't had the time to sit and write as much as I would like. And, when I have had the time I'd much rather snuggle with my mister or get some much needed Zzz...

Ready for a story? Mychael and I went on our first date on May 21st, 2005. It was a casual date right before he left for a little vacation drive through Louisiana. I liked Mychael, but in a way I didn't want to like him. My ex had broken my heart and my trust and I just really wanted a great friend. Mychael asked me to hang out numerous times and I always gave him some lame excuse of "I have to wash my hair" or something of the like. Seriously. Anyway, he had written a blog post that he was tired of chasing this girl he really liked. He was done. He would go on his road trip, and when he got back that would be it. My heart sunk a little. The girl he was talking about was me! I didn't want him to give up on me.

Part of the reason I would give him such lame excuses was the fact that I came from such a strict Mexican family. I didn't want to have to be drilled with questions in order to go out on a date. But, I did it and my parents gave me permission to go out.

Mychael won me over that night from the very beginning. He came to pick me up in his '94 Chevy Pickup (which he still drives to this day) and opened the passenger door for me. Was this guy really opening my door for me? I got in the truck, buckled my seat belt and he closed the door. I was impressed!

We went to see A Lot Like Love, and I insisted on paying for my own ticket. To this day I am not sure what was going through his head at that moment. Or if it bothered him at all that I was so insistent on paying for my own movie ticket.

Afterwards we went to eat some Tex-Mex, I love me some salsa and some cheese enchiladas. The original place no longer exists but the owner did open up another restaurant and it tastes just the same. Anyway by the end of the meal my plate was clean. I had gobbled up every bit of my food. Oops. He was impressed. He hadn't been on a date or around another girl who wasn't self conscious about her eating. I'm pretty sure I won his heart right at that moment. He also insisted on covering both our dinners and wasn't going to allow me to pay my part.

The whole night was easy. I didn't have to put any effort into the night and I didn't feel uncomfortable at any time. Everything felt cozy and he was so easy to talk to. I felt like I could really just relax and be myself. It was the best first date I had been on!

I am so glad that I didn't let him go on his road trip without our date. Who knows where we would be in our lives if he would have just given up on me. I didn't give in 100%, he still had his work cutout for him. I'm a very guarded person, but he broke down all my walls and showed me that he could be trusted and would always be there for me no matter what.

Mychael is my rock, I know that he will always take care of me and will always allow me to be just, me. Sure he laughs at me and thinks I am just the most ridiculous person ever when I yell a song at the top of my lungs or jump around in our house, but that is just me - behind closed doors. I can't believe after 7 & 1/2 years of dating I'll finally get to call him my husband, and I'll be proud to be called Mrs. H.

I love fortunes like this.

I went to lunch this afternoon with a bestie and coworker, popped open my fortune cookie afterwards and this is what it said.

Yippee! I sure hope this is true. I wonder what it could be? Do you believe in fortunes?
