The unSimply Life V.1

Since I haven't been able to post as often there are lots of photos that have made it to instagram but not my blog, or some which haven't made either. So here is what I have been up to!

Dining out, and home cooked meals. From the very bad food that will make your health fanatic friends have a heart attack at first sight to delicious healthy meals. We like a little variety in our house. You only live once, enjoy your foods. No regrets.
I locked my keys in the car. Or should I say, the mister did it. Maybe YOU should be the judge. I locked my keys in the glove box the night before when we went out. The next morning the mister moved my car and put the keys in the door, locked it and left. BOTH sets of keys were now locked in the car. Who was at fault? Me, or him? You be the judge.
Football with our favorite friends, trying on my wedding dress and final alterations, if only I could have put on about half an inch in height.
Volunteering with Vox Culture as their social media voice and trying to promote them as much as I can. It's a little bit different than promoting your own blog and yourself.
We got married, hung out at our favorite local pub, and had a small reception the next day. I got a crazy bug in me and decided to chop off 7 inches of my hair, which I now miss. I'm doing the best I can to embrace it though. Next time, tell me to add high lights, someone!
We've sorted through presents and have had our dear kitties there to get in the way while we are trying to clean up. We watched our friend, Mallory get married.
Attended our first events as husband and wife. We attended Mallory's wedding and ceremony in Galveston with our college friends. We realized that we have been friends with these girls for about 5yrs! Went to our first UH game as husband and wife... and probably our first game ever sober! (ha!)

Off to work I go. Have a great day y'all!

Coca-Cola Freestyle!

It's no secret that I love sodas, specifically Coca-Cola products. I was brought up in a household with a Mom who only bought coca-cola products. That's serious brand loyalty right there. Mychael and I were also very lucky to get an exclusive plant tour of the very first Coca-Cola bottling facility! I would have shared photos with y'all but they told us no cameras were allowed. I did come home with a nifty blanket for my Momma though.

Mychael and I cook most of our meals at home, but we do allow ourselves to dine out a couple times a week. One day we went into our local Fuddruckers (I had never been to one) and we saw this machine.

I may have been a little star struck. This is the Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine. What is that? you ask. Let me explain. Each Freestyle machine has a full-color touch screen that allows you to choose over 100+ different brands, including flavors and sodas not available anywhere else; there is literally something for everyone. From sodas and energy drinks to flavored waters and juices, the Coke Freestyle machine has it all.

No matter what you are in the mood for, they've got you covered! Mychael's go to is usually Barq's Root-beer and for me... I love me some Cherry Coke! Hi-C is definitely a close 2nd! I love all the options, it is always a bummer when you go somewhere and they don't have the drink you're craving.

Click here to find the nearest dining spot with a Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine. You can also go here to find where the Coca-Cola Freestyle Truck will be! For my local friends here are a few events coming up that you can check out.

  • November 4th: Houston Texans vs Buffalo
  • November 10th: University of Houston vs Tulsa!!<-- I'll be there!!!!!
  • November 18th: Houston Texans vs Jacksonville

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own, I truly do have an obsession with Coca-Cola products. Ask my family!

We still miss you, Marco

It was a year ago today that I woke up for work just like any other day. This time I wasn't greeted by our sweet boy and it would be the last time I held him.

They tell you the pain goes away, and things get better. It does, but just a little bit. I still miss Marco dearly. My fellow diabetic cat ladies told me that Marco would come to visit me in my dreams from time to time, and they didn't lie. I've had a couple dreams over the last few months where I could feel his fur and I could smell his scent, only to wake in tears knowing that it was only a dream.

Remember to hug your furkids tight. Take 5 minutes out of your morning routine to give them extra pets, kisses and play time. An animals love is unconditional.

The Nail Files - Wedding Nails

Wheeeeeeee! Happy Friday, sweet friends! It has been forever and a day since I have linked up with my friend Vickie for The Nail Files!

I know I said that I would post photos from the wedding but I just haven't had time to really sit down and write and I don't want to rush the posts. So for now you still get little sneak peeks. Yay!

I thought I wanted something different for my nails when I was getting married. Maybe some color, or glitter tips, but when it came down to it - the perfect french manicure was what won my heart.

On my way to the gardens. The last time my hand would be naked without my rings!
My pretty french manicure with my pretty engagement ring and pretty wedding enhancer!

I'm still sporting these nails right now and they still look great! But I can't wait to take them off so I can have fun with pretty colors again.

What did you do for your wedding day nails?

My thoughts exactly.

I've been feeling a little fiesty lately, how about you?

...and for anyone who may have something smart to say.
  • I have boobs, love my boobs.
  • Middle fingers in pictures may have been cute when you were in highschool... but seriously, meh what do you get out of that.
Have a good day, friends. :)

Its Okaaayyy!

Its Ok Thursdays
It's been a while since I have done an "Its OK" Thursday post with the lovely Amber and Neely. The wedding is over and we are slowly starting to feel like we have control over our lives again. I missed my blogging world and I am excited to start writing again and to read some of my favorite real life bloggers. So let's get this party started...
Its Ok to...
...catch yourself staring at your rings while you are driving, typing, cooking, writing, fixing your hair.
...ask "oooh who got married" when you see a twitter avi and then realize its you in the photo.
...take down the ads from your site early October because there was a virus linked to one of them.
...rethink your blogging reads and start a new list of blogs to read.
...give up on friendships, sometimes people just weren't meant to be life long friends.
...be excited for vacations we have planned for next year.
...want to renovate your place but not want to put all the work in.
...be ready for children, but just not believe it is the right place and time.
...until next time!

Update Josh + Hannah

The mister and I along with the help of family and friends are tying up loose ends for our wedding and reception this weekend! I can't wait to share everything with you!

Right now though, these newly weds need your prayers again...

Josh is back in the hospital again and is currently fighting to keep his white blood cell count up. Infections are starting to set in. The hospital is continuing to give him blood and platelet transfusions while he waits to find out if his siblings are donor matches.

If you have any prayers and wishes left in your day please send them Josh and Hannah's way, they could really use it!

Please note no information has been shared that the couple or family haven't already made public knowledge.

Sometimes, you just need flowers + cookies + ice cream...

On Monday I asked y'all if Bridezilla could come out to play. I was having such a horrible no good very bad day.
Traffic was horrible coming in to work, in fact I arrived 15 minutes late and I hate showing up late to work. I may have to start leaving earlier just to make it on time until the schools and colleges let out for break.
Soon after I arrived to work I found out that one of my German colleagues had passed away in her sleep while out on buisness. My eyes teared up as my boss told us, but from previous jobs I have learned to compose myself quite quickly and press on with work. I couldn't help but think about when I met her during her visit to Houston and how excited she was that I was getting married. She hoped that the next time she came she could meet Mychael and maybe I would tell her that I was pregnant. She couldn't wait until we started a family and hoped it came sooner rather than later.
The wedding is fast approaching so the tiny details are still being worked on, and although our wedding is not traditional by any means following up with those invited is still a part of it. Finding out from my Mom that the aunt I was closest to growing up wasn't going to be able to make my wedding was a blow to my gut. I walked straight out of my office because I knew there was no composing myself after hearing that.
The day went on and finally it was time to go home. I was ready to just curl up on the couch, 40 minutes on the road went by and we hadn't even traveled half way home. The traffic was a mess. I sent Mychael a text letting him know my location and telling him that the day had just been sh*ttastic. He asked what I needed out of our evening and I just listed off foods and drinks that would make any girl happy. When I got home he wasn't there. No big deal, he may have gone for a run or an errand.
I called my Dad to follow up on some family members which I had not heard back from about their attendance for the wedding and/or ceremony and he tells me that his two sisters won't be able to make the wedding because my grandparents... My grandfather doesn't remember anyone, not even the two sisters he lives with or my grandma. My grandmother, well I don't want to get into too many details here but she isn't doing very well herself either. I kept my composure and just said okay, that I loved him and would speak with him later. I hung up, my heart dropped and in walked Mychael.
Mychael had run to the store to pick up nearly one of everything on my list of things I needed that night + flowers. My little heart was content and of course it just forced more tears to stream down my face. I had cookies, ice cream, and margaritas. It didn't make everything okay, but it made me feel a heck of a lot better after the day I had.
I may not be that close with my grandparents, but attending other weddings always made me so sad that I wouldn't get to have those same moments with my grandparents from my Mom's side. (They passed away when I was just 5/6... I took it pretty hard. I saw them almost daily and my Grandfather passed away in his sleep while I was sitting on the couch right next to him. I beat myself up over that for years. I should have known.) I had my grandparents on my Dad's side though and I knew that I would create memories with them on my wedding day and have that to always look back on, but now... I don't even get the chance.
I know that despite everything, our day will be perfect, calm, and simple just the way we had planned.
I spent the rest of the night and last night cuddling with the kitties and Mychael. I am so thankful to have a partner in life who knows just when I need that little extra something to cheer me up.
Tonight we are booking the band for our wedding ceremony!!

Can Bridezilla Come Out to Play?

You know I told myself that I wouldn't let this wedding get the best of me. It is just one day. I have been completely calm and laid back through out the almost 2 year engagement.

Then over this weekend we find out that Mychael's wedding party won't be at the reception at all (NFL game on that Sunday). This morning, well the football game (college) starts at the same time as our wedding ceremony.

We looked long and hard at the schedules and past schedules to plan our wedding around University of Houston football. We planned our wedding early enough to make it out to an early afternoon game or an evening game. We even planned to have our wedding reception the next day.

Now its all just ruined. Or that's how it feels... I'm tried my hardest not to let it get to me but all I can think is "the wedding is ruined!"

le sigh.

Someone bring me a cupcake or four.

- I also just found out the aunt that I was closest to growing up can't make it to Houston for the wedding.
-The band who is supposed to play at the ceremony won't return my phone calls.
Margaritas anyone?

Striped Shirt + Football

Is the weekend really over? My Saturday was so much fun! We went out to the Bayou Bucket game at Reliant Stadium with University of Houston vs. Rice.

I received a Striped Shirt in the mail last week and couldn't wait to wear it out to the Bayou Bucket game. These shirts are so soft and cozy! I also loved that I didn't just blend in with the other fans.

I'm happy to report that the Coogs took the Bayou Bucket back home with them. Our first win this season! The Cougar Faithful couldn't take another loss.
